| What is this curious thing called "mystereal"? It is an artificial word, created by two friends and me. Made out of "mystereous" and "reality" it is name for our form of live-roleplaying.
The expert of live-roleplaying usually knows in this concept the form of Live-Action-Roleplaying (LARP). That is, the players act in costumes and role, usually in fantasy settings, freely performing and developing actions and scenes only controled by some gamemasters. Swords, armour and magic are important components of this kind of roleplaying. Mystereals are different. We usually do without swords and explicit costumes. Our settings are designed in genres about mystery, for example à la Agatha Christie, or even in some supernatural settings tending to the "X-Files", or else. We prefer to design stories in our own world, not in fantasy realms, because deeper and more complex roles and characters could be developed in a known world. And what world is better known to all of us than good old earth? Designing Mystereals is a complex thing and many preparations resemble shooting a movie. Usually we need about four month from idea to the game. That's why we are only able to realize two or three mystereals a year. My friends and me established a little enterprise called DANN&WANN (means "now and then") and we try to present it to a greater audience. If You want to know more about this fascinating hobby and DANN&WANN, please refer to our homepage. I'm afraid it's in german, so if You aren't capable of this peculiar language, please contact me for more information what's all about this mystereal-thing. |
